Fireworks and Stars

The view, after dark was as incredible as the view in the daylight. The stars here are breathtaking. And, in addition to the stargazing, we could see dozens of fireworks along the coast. The best show was the one at the Mauna Kea resort. We had a perfect view.

Visit with Ebby & Lex Pinson

It was a beautiful evening to visit with friends of my parents who moved to the big island four years ago. They have been instrumental in helping us plan this section of the trip. They graciously hosted us for a July 4 barbecue. It was a wonderful visit, nice to catch up, and a great time to plan our stay on the big island. 

They have a beautiful spot with an incredible view.

Perfect place to watch the sunset.

Lex and Ebby treated us to a delicious dinner of locally raised beef burgers, and a variety of other delicious things grown or made on the island.

Our first woman in the cockpit and the captain! She moved over so Sam could sit left seat! Apparently Hawaiian Air has the highest number of female pilots in the industry at a whopping 8%.

The airport in Maui has logistics nailed! The rental car process was the most streamlined we have experienced! Made it though check in and security smoothly enough to make an earlier flight!
